Bond Between Humans and Canines Has Lasted Thousands of Years

For decades scientists and archeologists have studied the bond between humanoids (pre-human) and canines based on evidence retrieved during archeological digs.  Early assumptions were that dogs were used to work for humanoids, for protection or hunting or both.  Over time researchers have come to realize that the bond was likely stronger and more emotional than that.  More recent archeological findings have been of humanoid remains snuggled up with canine remains thousands of years old.  These findings were discovered across the planet in various parts of the world with different species of humans across the various prehistoric timelines.  Based on this evidence, it is safe to say that dog is truly man and woman’s best friend and unconditional companion.

We as the human component in the relationship need to understand and nurture our dogs’ needs.  We take care of them, feed them, walk them, and play with them but we also need to understand their need for mental stimulation as well as the need to please their human.  Playing with them is a form of stimulation and the act of retrieving a ball or toy and bringing it back to their human is in fact a type of work in their minds.  They are doing a job and pleasing their human-that’s what they live for.  At Sweetie’s Pup-Art Studio, our goal is to assist people and their fur babies to create special memories during a special experience while creating a one-of-a-kind precious gift to take home to keep those memories forever.  Sweetie is my example of how therapeutic painting can be-even for dogs.  Over a year and a half ago she was unexpectedly diagnosed with acute kidney disease and it hit quickly and she deteriorated rapidly.  She lost a lot of weight, stopped eating, stopped playing, was unable to stand or walk and barely lifted her head up on her own.  The vet was as confused as to how it all happened as we were, as well as equally confused at how she was so weak yet still appeared to be fully alert and alive inside.  He kept an eye on her rapid decline with blood tests proving she was getting worse and finally said we had to start thinking about how long we should let it continue, but while also agreeing that she didn’t seem to be suffering enough to be considered unfair for us to keep her alive.  She had too much life left in her eyes.  Everything changed one day when I was preparing for the worst and carried her outside to paint so I would have as many memories as possible besides pictures.  Please read Sweetie’s story for more about her journey to almost perfect health after making 2 changes in her life-one, which was the most noticeable lift was painting.
